An initiative of Historica Canada, Passages Canada volunteers share their personal accounts of cultural identity and heritage in person with community groups. We will be welcoming Passages Canada speaker Kenny Gwena to the Crystal Ridge branch on February 22. Gwena will recount his experiences as a newcomer to Canada. He has been here 10 years. Gwena was born in Zimbabwe during the war of independence from Great Britain. Gwena reports, “I saw the face of war. My father was killed during the war. I have all kinds of memories (and nightmares) from that time and beyond. My first vote was cast in Canada.”
