Children are learning language and other important skills from the time they are infants. Developing these early literacy skills makes it easier for children to read once they begin school. Join us for reading, writing, talking, singing and playing - the five fundamental skills that get children Ready to Read! For children ages 1.5 and up. FREE. Pre-Registration not required.

Homework Help

Students in K-8 explore STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, music and math) with fun, extracurricular activities. Volunteer tutors also guide students doing homework. Kenny Gwena, speaker from Historica Canada

An initiative of Historica Canada, Passages Canada volunteers share their personal accounts of cultural identity and heritage in person with community groups. We will be welcoming Passages Canada speaker Kenny Gwena to the Crystal Ridge branch on February 22. Gwena will recount his experiences as a newcomer to Canada. He has been here 10 years. Gwena was born in Zimbabwe during the war of independence from Great Britain. Gwena reports, “I saw the face of war. My father was killed during the war. I have all kinds of memories (and nightmares) from that time and beyond. My first vote was cast in Canada.”
