Trefethan on Sunday, July 15 at 2 p.m. in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo, N.Y., 695 Elmwood Ave. Mrs. Trefethan, late of 3050 Poplar Ave., Thunder Bay, Ridgeway, died on Friday, July 6 in Buffalo General Hospital, after a long illness. She was a landed resident of Canada for the last 17 years She retired from Sweet Home Elementary School in 1981. While on staff there, one of her class projects was exhibited at the Albright Art Gallery in Buffalo. The former Erma E. Cran dall was born in Cheshire, Conn., a descendant of an early American family whose roots go back for eight generations with a Baptist minister in every generation. She graduated from Normal School in Syracuse and later earned her bachelor's degree and did graduate studies in education at the State University of New York, located in Buffalo. She was an active member of the Unitarian Church for many years. She was an accomplished artist, musician and sculptor and assisted the Ridgeway Art Club at times. The service was led by the Rev. Rydell, pastor of the Church with a close friend. Margaret E. Teal delivering the eulogy and a poem in her honor. She leaves to mourn her loss a son, Ernest C. Trefethen, of Buffalo, N.Y., a daughter, Mrs. Mary Segall of Cheshire, Conn.; four sisters, Harriet Gilbank and Grace Wixson, both of Syracuse, Dolores Carruthers of Liverpool, N.Y. and Marion Cole of Lima, N.Y. and seven grandchildren.
