,;ls branch of the church dates back to 1855, when a church was
orgaanized at Gondors Chapel, Black
of E. Price.

Creek; under the leadership

Others taking up the leadership of the work in the

district were, H. Kropp, A.B. Sherk and D.B. Sherk. By 1861 there
w re four meeting

houses and the Mission was organized into a

circuit.
Shortly after there were five church groups: Young's:
Garrison Rd.: Stevensville:

Black Creek, and Mc.Kennies,which

operated out of a school house.
In 1861

Sherkston came into being when it was decided that Garrison

Rd. Church

~wuld

be devided and one formed at

Sherkston. It was not

till 1870 that the Sherkston Church was organized into a church class.
Eventually only four churches remained: Black
