In 1808 while their new home was being built, the Hershey sisters rented
a '-:Jlace on Princess St. in the village of Fort erie. They took &gt;Jith them their
dog ,and their horse ano carriage fron the old i:; lace.A lot was aquired on the
river roat'l_ not far from Winternte St. in th2 area known as Srids eburg. From April
to Oct. the builders worked on the large frame house. The huge eel lar \Jas dug
by hanu, ancl the lumber brought over from Dunkirk l'J.Y. Also built was a large
barn and a carriage house on the north side of the home .
\rJhen the house was com~:Jleted the girls asked their third cousin John (Jae!~
