ZAREK, Krystyna - After a courageous struggle Krystyna passed away at the Douglas Memorial Hospital on Friday, September 6, 2013. Born in Przeworsk, Poland on November 24, 1926 she was the beloved wife of the late Mieczyslaw Zarek. Proud mother of Anna (Jack) Brewster, Maggie Barrett and Izabel (David) Flowers. Cherished grandmother of JJ (Nikki), Jennifer (Rich), Michelle (Ryan), Kyle, Andrew and Kitt. Loving great grandmother of Jake and Bianca. A proud and active member of the community, she belonged to St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, the Catholic Church Women's League, the Canadian Air Force Association, Royal Canadian Legion Br. 71, the Fort Erie Horticultural Society and volunteered with the Canadian Blood Service, the Girl Guides of Canada and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. BENNER FUNERAL SERVICES, 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. The family received friends on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 10th at 11 o'clock. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
