VERBURG, MARIANNA - Mary passed away unexpectedly on December 13, 2012 at the Welland Hospital. She is survived by her loving husband Paul Mellen, and daughters Melissa and Stephanie Slinn. Also survived by siblings: Dick and Margaret, Cobi and Claude, Kees and Diana, John and Gloria, Ed and Maryann, Toni and Jack, peter and Adele, Ron and Kathryn. Predeceased by parents: Jan and Maria Verburg and brother Rick, and his wife Joan. For almost 20 yrs., Mary was the publisher of the Port Colborne/Wainfleet Shopper., and used its extensive circulation throughout South Niagara to publicize many charitable and non-profit organizations including: N.C.C., Ridgeway BIA, RCBHS 100th year reunion, Dunnville Christian School, Covenant Christian School, Wainfleet Agricultural Fair, Niagara Antique Power Association, Canadian Cancer Society, and many motr. At Mary's request, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Mary's life was held at First United Church5244 Highway #3, Sherkston, ON., on Monday Dec 17, 2012 at 11am.
