Canadian Tire has enjoyed a long history in Fort Erie, with its first store located on Jarvis Street. Another location opened on Central Avenue and operated there until 1996. As business shifted from the north end to Garrison Road, Canadian Tire relocated. Pictured here is Canadian Tire's current location, which opened in 1996.
Pictured here is the vacant lot at the corner of Central Avenue and Garrison Road where Keystone Kelly's once stood. The building stood vacant for many years before its eventual demolition. At the time of this picture, a high-rise condominium was planned for this site.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, businesses and various other entities took the time to thank essential workers for their hard work and personal risk. Essential workers came to include retail workers, truck drivers, health care workers, etc. Pictured here is a sign outside of Our Lady of Victory School on Central Avenue, thanking essential workers.
Pictured here is the lot where Willson's Brokerage once stood on Walnut Street. It operated there until the late 1990s when owner William F Willson relocated much of the operation working in that building to Mississauga.
Pictured here is a sign advertising new management for what will be known as the Cook Top Diner. This building has housed a number of other businesses including the Royal Town Diner and Fort Erie Burger. A gas station once stood on its spot at the corner of Central Avenue and Jarvis Street.
Pictured here is the vacant lot where Long Shotz stood. The building, as a bar and hotel, operated under numerous names over the years, including Grammy's Tavern and 33 Princess Street.
Pictured here is St. Paul's Anglican Church's parish centre, an addition to the original building that was opened in 1984, The co-op nursery school has operated from this location since it opened. Meels on Wheels also operates from an office there.
