Dear Mr. Guess:

You will read in the press that I have decided to
support Jim Allan in his candidacy for the leadership of our Party.
I believe you will be interested in knowing why I
reached this decision.
I have been privileged to serve on the Cabinet with
all the leading candidates. I know ·f rom experience
that they are able and dedicated men. Each would
contribute in his own special way to the growth of
the Province if chosen for the important office.
But I believe that Jim Allan's unique breadth
of experience, his seasoned jud, gment, his proven
administrative record - and his extensive rural
background - will best serve the interests of our
Party, and our Province.
.

)ne of tbe best measures of a m irri'sier's ability
is the efficiency and morale of the department
when he leaves it. In my opinion, there are no
departments in the government which have higher
morale and greater efficiency than those administered by Jim Allan.
Both Mr. Cass and I can speak from first hand
experience as present ministers of departments
which he led through very trying times.

He has held the portfolios of Highways, Transport and Public Works. His present responsibilities
as Provincial Treasurer and Minister of Economics
bring him into direct contact with every phase of
provincial affairs.
His close association with Mr. Frost will assure
smooth implementation of programs now in hand.
His vigour and imagination will assure dynamic
programs for the future.
I have tremendous admiration for this man who
quietly and firm ly gets things done.
I ask you to
give him your s u pport too.
