George Yando of Henrietta Street, Fort Erie, died Monday, August 19, 1991 at Douglas Memorial Hospital. He was 89. Born Oct. 15, 1901 in Hungary, Mr. Yando came to Canada where he lived many years in Welland before moving to Fort Erie. He worked at Horton CBI 26 years, retiring in 1966. He was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, and a member of the Hungarian Club of Welland. Mr. Yando was predeceased by his wife Mary Kovacs Yando in 1982. He is survived by his son Charles (Emily) Yando of Fort Erie and his daughter Theresa (Charlie) Jones of Fort Erie and by three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by grandson Michael in 1985. Funeral mass was celebrated at St. Michael's Church Aug. 22 by Fr. Pizzacalla. The vigil for the deceased was held at Davidson Funeral Home Aug. 21.
