1000 Books Before Kindergarten

A literacy program for newborns, babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. The goal is to read 1000 books with your little one before they start Kindergarten.

How do I participate?

1. Register

Visit any of our branches to pick up your 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Booklet or print at home: 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Booklet

There is no required reading, however, if you would like a personalized bundle of books to get you started please submit this survey

2. Read and track

Next up—reading! We encourage you to read daily with your little one. You can read one book or multiple books each day—it’s up to you.

  • Three books a day for 1 year = 1095 books
  • One book a day for 3 years = 1095 books
Once you’ve reached 1000 books, celebrate that achievement! Visit your local branch and show them your completed tracker. They will give you a special certificate to celebrate your achievement!
