Policy


The Fort Erie Public Library welcomes in-kind donations of services, furnishings, equipment, materials, supplies, etc., to support and enhance its service goals and programs.

Purpose of the in-kind donations policy:

  • To provide guidelines for staff to follow when accepting in-kind donations.

Guidelines and Conditions


All donations in-kind become the exclusive property of the Fort Erie Public Library and will not be returned.

Donations in-kind are accepted with the understanding that if the Library cannot use them, it may at any time dispose of them in any way it sees fit.

Restrictions and conditions placed on gifts by donors may not be followed.

The Fort Erie Public Library Board reserves the right to refuse donations in kind if it is deemed that the conditions or restrictions are not in accordance with the Library’s goals and priorities.

Receipts for income tax purposes may be issued for donations in kind if the value of the service or item is easily identifiable and documented by the donor.

Appraisals of donated items are not done by the Library.

The CEO will send a letter of appreciation to individuals, groups and organizations acknowledging their donation and contribution to the programs and services of the Fort Erie Public Library.
