Policy


The Fort Erie Public Library welcomes the donation of funds to support and enhance its service goals and programs.

Purposes of the Monetary Donations Policy is: to provide guidelines for staff to follow when accepting a donation of funds.


Guidelines and Conditions


Donations from identified individuals and groups for specific purposes which fall within the Library’s goals and priorities will flow to the Capital Donations account and be administered accordingly.

Donations from identified individuals and groups for unspecified purposes will be deposited to the Library Trust Fund. Use of these funds is in accordance with the Trust Fund By-Laws.

Anonymous donations to the branch collection boxes will be used to support on-going operations and will be deposited in the general revenue account.

The Fort Erie Public Library Board reserves the right to refuse monetary donations if it is deemed that the conditions or restrictions on use of these funds are not in accordance with the Library’s goals and priorities.

Receipts for income tax purposes will be issued for donations of $10 or more.

The CEO will send a letter of appreciation to individuals, groups and organizations acknowledging their donation and contribution to the programs and services of the Fort Erie Public Library.
