What is the TD Summer Reading Club?

TD Summer Reading Club is Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, all interests, and all abilities. This free program is co-created and delivered by more than 2,000 public libraries across Canada. It celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories. It’s designed to inspire kids to explore the fun of reading their way – the key to building a lifelong love of reading.


This Year’s Theme

Set sail on an adventure across all kinds of waterways—ponds, lakes, rivers and vast oceans. Dip your toes into the cool, refreshing and precious water, and be on the lookout for a message in a bottle. But beware!

You don’t want to fall under a siren’s enchantment or stumble into the kraken’s trap! As the sun sets on the horizon, casting a golden glow over your sandcastle, take a moment to appreciate the water that sustains all life.


How to Register

Visit any branch of the library to collect your TD Summer Reading welcome gift bag and register with a staff member. Your registration kit includes this year's booklet, passport, lanyard, and web code.

There are 3 kinds of registrations:
  • Swashbucklers: Ages 0-6
  • Pirates: Ages 7-13
  • Buccaneers: Ages 14+

Badges and Incentives

We’re trying out something new this year! Every child, across all 3 age groups, will receive a sticker for every 5 books they read.

For every 10 books they read, TD Summer Reading Club members will earn a button + a mini prize.

Once you’ve hit a 5 or 10 book milestone, stop by the front desk at your local branch to receive a sticker, or a button for your lanyard and a mini prize from our treasure chest!


Monthly Draws

For each book you read, you can fill out a ballot to win one of our monthly prizes for your age group. The more books you read, the more chances you have at winning some stellar prizes this summer.

Draws will be at the end of each month for multiple age groups.
